Morning all,
Always hard to draw conclusions around the links to the ph used and the biometric tech in the video - not to say there couldn't be a link.....who knows...
Anyway, I did a quick surf just now for info b4 cracking into "real" work and here are some older links / articles from a year ago related to Apples foray into iris / eye biometric tech. The last article is 2013 but mentions corneal reflections. Just seems that this biometric has been on the radar for most Co's but as WBT pointed out - ph / laptop camera tech wasn't advanced enough till more recently.
I haven't checked for Patent updates from them yet (will try later). So, if we believe sources, then this biometric is something that both Samsung and Apple are interested in, we know Fjuitsu and NttDocomo(?) have just released their version but commercially would make sense that if you can buy or licence a cutting edge tech (once proved up independently - as we wait) to merely drop into your product then....saves a hell of a lot of R&D / Cost as the work and investment has been already done.
The other thing we prob need to think about is that any agreements/MOU's may not be with an OEM but with another biometric Co. already in the mkt with existing contracts like EyeVerify, Eyelock, DeltaID, Hoyos etc etc. Is always the possibility that WBT/NXR could licence the tech to one of these to complement their own existing tech and strengthen their existing commercial contracts? Just a thought.
Good day all...
