I'm pretty confident we will come up with a solution to prevent thermal runaway.
Once a temperature limit is breached the battery can have a neutralising agent injected into it to stop the reaction that causes the fire.
Bit like an airbag in the car. The system would have to be frequently serviced and maintained, but thats far less costly than the impending fire.
What the agent is and how its injected, i'll leave to the experts.
