“Name” can mean a person’s reputation or the person himself. If it is referring to a Bible thing or character it is usually of significance in that it will reveal something about the character. An example is when the Israelites first saw manna, they exclaimed: “What is it?” ( Exodus 16:15,31)and that became its name in Hebrew.
Especially did names given at divine direction often have prophetic significance. In the case of the Son of God, the name Jesus (Jehovah Is Salvation) was prophetic of his role as Jehovah’s appointed Savior, or means of salvation.
(Matthew 1:21) She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
The Bible contains the personal names of only two angels, **riel (meaning “Able-Bodied One of God”) and Michael (Who Is Like God?).

For an individual to know God’s name signifies more than a mere acquaintance with the word. When Jesus Christ was on earth, he ‘made his Father’s name manifest’ to his disciples by giving them a much deeper understanding of what Jehovah was like. - John 17:6,26 Christ Jesus perfectly represented his Father and therefore could say: “He that has seen me has seen the Father also.” - John 14:9. This shows then that the only ones truly knowing God’s name are those who are his obedient servants. - 1 John 4:8.
(Proverbs 18:10) The name of Jehovah is a strong tower. Into it the righteous one runs and receives protection.
(Psalm 91:14) God said: “Because he has affection for me, I will rescue him. I will protect him because he knows my name.

The name itself is no magical charm, but the One designated by that name can provide protection for his obedient people.

The nation of Israel were to be God's name people, but often brought reproach on that name at which time he allowed them to be punished by enemy nations.
(Isaiah 52:5) “What, then, should I do here?” declares Jehovah. “For my people were taken for nothing. Those ruling over them keep howling in triumph,” declares Jehovah, “And constantly, all day long, my name is treated with disrespect.
To clear his name of such reproach, Jehovah acted for the sake of his name and restored a remnant of Israel to their land.
(Ezekiel 36:22-24) “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah says: “Not for your sakes am I acting, O house of Israel, but for my holy name, which you profaned among the nations where you have gone.”’ 23 ‘I will certainly sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the nations, which you profaned among them; and the nations will have to know that I am Jehovah,’ declares the Sovereign Lord Jehovah, ‘when I am sanctified among you before their eyes. 24 I will take you from the nations and gather you back from all the lands and bring you into your land.

With Jesus having fulfilled the old covenant , he established a new covenant with his disciples that were to be drawn from all nations.- Jeremiah 31:31-34 ; Luke 22:20. These too were to be a people for God's name.
(Acts 15:14-17) Symʹe·on has related thoroughly how God for the first time turned his attention to the nations to take out of them a people for his name. 15 And with this the words of the Prophets agree, just as it is written: 16 ‘After these things I will return and raise up again the tent of David that is fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins and restore it, 17 so that the men who remain may earnestly seek Jehovah, together with people of all the nations, people who are called by my name, says Jehovah, who is doing these things,

I agree that is the way God draws those whom he chooses . However, being a keen student of the Scriptures does not guarantee approval.

Thanks for the reply though, I will address much on another post.
I feel perhaps though, I need to clear something up - It may seem I'm constantly pushing The God subject and The Word which may give the impression, I'm shoving Jesus out of the picture or lowering him. Well,,,, that is certainly not the case, to know all the word and to know Jesus, or Jesus is the Son of God or in the context you know he exists, WILL NOT cut it.
When I personally see or use the words, The Word, to me that also incorporates the entire word of God, all about Jesus as well, and all their messages and how ALL that should be part of the inner you, includes the love of God.
Put off the flesh and put on the new, Dress for the coming occasion or miss the event.
Not wanting hear Jesus's words, I don't know you, the chaff etc etc. No oil in the lamp............

So my approach is, let say your watching a movie and you come in half way???? To know the true story, you need the beginning, oracles of God, first milk, otherwise you will NEVER be on track.
That's what I feel, has been lost or was never received/understood by many. The Bible in many places clearly teaches us to expect this.

I have also spent quite a bit of time studying, those of God hear his word and that subject is all over the place, very important that one, to grasp. I could cover heaps from experience of what's been happening but, that would become more of a me topic and it's not about me.
