We have to be honest here grindstone . We failed in Afghanistan as we failed in Iraq, we failed in Vietnam so why should we be even thinking about becoming involved in Burma because with all likelihood we'll fail there too?
IMO China would cruel us and any western armies in Myanmar, more than in the later years of Vietnam because China has more economic skin in the game here.In Vietnam US/Aus/Others has greater equipment advantage over the Chinese than now, IMO. and China has a few million troops to swarm over its Myanmar land border with its troops more motivated to fight than ours or Uncle Sams.
China has a huge economic stake in Myanmar now and the clearances of the Rohingyas was likely a strategy to clear the coastal regions in anticipation of massive infrastructure development as per the China BRI program for that region. The BRI has earmarked Myanmar as one of the key oil, gas & transport corridors to open up SW China to coastal shipping. thereby avoiding the easy to block Strait of Malacca.
