Taking note that Auslin is an historian, what would the readership of the WSJ make of the reference to the Comstock Lode. There is a hint in the title to his article Wyoming Hits the Rare-Earth Mother Lode. The Comstock Lode was one of the most significant mining discoveries in American history. It was the discovery that made Nevada the Silver State and reputedly led to the breakaway of Nevada from the state of Utah. Auslin is discussing Halleck Creek in the context of national defense and securing supply lines of rare earth critical metals. There appears to be an inference that Halleck Creek could facilitate the revival of American manufacturing at the high technological end including military technologies.

Australian investors may have thought that Halleck Creek was just another rare earth deposit albeit large scale with low penalty elements of thorium and uranium. Auslin doesn't see it that way.

The question is how pervasive is this view in the US and is it shared among others by the Military Industrial Complex! Could Halleck Creek enable the US to break away from Chinese domination of rare earth production? And is the best trading strategy for retail investors in ARR to catch the tiger by the tail.
