While I agree with much of what you say, you did fail to acknowledge that only about 1:10 projects ever meet their initial projections. (Occasionally it goes the other way re Mt Isa)

Nor do you consider the Bre-X enigma. Touted by many as the largest deposit of its type in the World (sound familiar), and it was even verified by one of the top exploration geologists of that era !!! and the very reason we now have JORC.

Very rarely do early claims of "Biggest and Best" ever pan out to be true, why ? IMO because the people who usually make such claims are more intent on mining the Market not the mine !
