I expect plenty of Confidentiality Agreements etc will be in place to try and prevent leaks coming from major developments.
Ironically, if there is a major development they will either lodge a new Patent, or update a previous one, to protect their Intellectual Property ... thus potentially placing Confidential Information into the Public Domain.
