mknop- It is an interesting point about insider trading and taking up the options. It leaves them in a bit of a pickle. As it has been explained to me any vote which includes institutional investors they have ethical guidelines about issueing options to directors which 'are in the money', meaning they would have to vote no .
So taking up their options may be the only way of them getting value.
