Le Sénégal a découvert, il y a de cela plusieurs mois, d’importants gisements de pétrole et de gaz que sont les gisements offshores de Grand Tortue, Rufisque Offshore, Sne-1, et consorts. Ces découvertes font du Sénégal un lieu de choix pour investir dans les hydrocarbures. Mais si le gisement de Rufisque Offshore est déjà attribué à la compagnie française Total Offshore, les compagnies chinoises comptent bien s’inviter à la concurrence et avoir leur part du gâteau.
« Le gouvernement souhaite que nous (les Chinois) investissons dans le domaine des énergies et des hydrocarbures. La Chine encourage elle aussi ses grandes entreprises à investir au Sénégal, notamment dans le pétrole et le gaz », a assuré Zhang Xun, ambassadeur de la Chine à Dakar, qui organisait ce matin une conférence de presse pour la présentation de la visite du président chinois au Sénégal, Xi Jinping, les 21 et 22 juillet prochains.
Mais d’un simple souhait, les Chinois passent vite au concret pour venir s’inviter dans la danse. « Une grande entreprise chinoise, la China National Offshore Oil Corporation (Cnooc), a gagné un bloc offshore vers la frontière entre le Sénégal et la Guinée-Bissau (Sénégal Offshore Sud Profond). Nous espérons que cette coopération va connaître un grand développement »,ajoute le diplomate.
Zhang Xun émet le souhait de gagner encore d’autre blocs au Sénégal. « Si on peut avoir plus de blocs, ce serait parfait », termine-t-il.
