Cash is not inflation-proof I’m afraid.
Inflation erodes the purchasing power of any asset. While cash may retain its real value to some extent during periods of low inflation, its purchasing power rapidly diminishes during times of high inflation.
Cash can negate inflation if it is deployed properly, keeping cash in a bank that is not offering defensive interest rates will erode value in a high inflation period, also if inflation runs higher for longer then even defensive investment like Bonds and High interest term deposits may just tread water., then depending on your income those investments may not be attractive after the taxation component is factored into the equation.
So buying stocks when they may present value over time could be a better strategy for some.
