Actually, you don't have to ASK the BOM, the climate data is all available online, Here are the MEDIAN rainfall stats (in mm) for all recorded years in Townsville:
NOV 32
DEC 82
JAN 214
FEB 232
MAR 138
APR 31
So unless you rent an offshore drilling rig, January and February (possibly into March) sound like a writeoff for drilling activity!
