I always appreciate your contributions to this SPQ thread because they add something our knowledge of the significance of this company.
I should caution that too much reliance on climate change action and likely legislation in respect of EVs is putting too high a gloss on future prospects. You state that there has been an underestimation of the climate change effects. From all the evidence available the exact opposite is true.
All the catastrophic forecasts by “climate scientists” over the last 35 years have not been borne out. Mass starvation has nor eventuated. In fact annually we have been getting record harvests. Only the . insane decisions of governments in recently banning the use of fertilisers in SrI Lanka and the Netherlands has put that good news at risk.
In 1988, it was predicted that the Maldives would disappear under the waters of the Indian Ocean in 30 years if climate action was not taken. 2018 has come and gone and the Maldives are still there despite CO emissions being higher than predicted in 1988. This was supposed to be based on so called settled science.
We are now harangued by high school misfits that by 2030 there will massive human extinction if action is not taken immediately yet here we are talking about mining getting under way for SPQ by 2032. If we are underestimating climate change the 2030 scenario is optimistic. So which is it?
EVs will only take off with government mandates banning the competition otherwise why impose a ban if they are so superior. That legislation is just words on a page and can be erased by a vote in the parliament. It is a house of cards and when reality strikes as it always does it will collapse like one.
Just to give an indication of hype v reality here is a screenshot of power supply and demand yesterday at the morning peak.
Wind is supplying 1123mw of demand of 25037mw or 4.5%. Wind farm capacity at present is 9854mw so wind has producing at 11.8% efficiency. Double that capacity and it still produces less than 25% of demand.
The great thing about copper is that it is essential to the production of power no matter what it’s origin and SPQ looks like proving up a significant resource.
