there is a number of ways of producing hydrogen from waste, it doesn't involve taking the hydrogen out of waste is is using waste to feed and grow alge and the alge produces the Hydrogen.

did you not read my post properly, production on a small scale has been achived but they are still working on large scale production.

The idea that alge can produce hydrogen was first observed in 1939 but in was only in the late 1990 that it was discovered how to control the alge to make hydrogen so it's a relatively new process but there has been a lot of work done an much progress made.
