Hi Out, I don't live near Dorrigo, I live in a small rural town (cotton and wheat country) west of Tamworth - Gunnedah. (It's just over a two hour drive going to Tamworth). I've lived here most of my life, although I wasn't born here. My father moved the family over here, from America (California). I was only just a teen when we moved here, and it was quite a culture shock for my mother and us kids, to say the least! It was very upsetting and traumatic for me, to have to leave all of my good friends and relatives behind. My father was a building contractor in the US, but gave all that up, to buy some land here and become a cotton farmer. Strange how that all came about, too long a story to put it all here! Anyway, have gone back to California for many visits and always loved it, was great to see everyone again. My mother moved back to California in the 90's, but was only there for five years, before she passed away from cancer. My sister and I had to travel back there, to take care of her for six months, before she passed. Awful time for us all, but we were at least grateful, that we were able to spend those last few months, being there with her.

Anyway, sounds like you're in a lovely area, are you very far from Port Macquarie? I've been to Port a few times over the years, my ex-husband and I used to go there on holidays with our son when he was a kid, and we always enjoyed it. Bet it's really nice to have a 'hideaway' on a few acres, where you can do what you like, in peace. I love privacy also, I bought a lovely home a few years ago, on a very quiet cul-de-sac. It's the most 'secluded' house on the block with a very private backyard, which is perfect for me and my lovely little pets.

Yes, the New England area is lovely, just depends on where you go. I've never been to the National Park though, believe it or not! I have spent a lot of time in Tamworth though, have made so many trips there, over the years. I love the place for some reason, it's such a lovely little city in the mountains, and I actually lived there for 3 years (a nice break from this place for awhile)! Have seen a few singers from the US, perform there, like Gene Pitney, Johnny Tillotson and Willie Nelson. I'm not a fan of Willie, but the ex-hubby and some friends wanted to go and see him, so I tagged along. Aussie country singer Beccy Cole was also there performing, so I at least enjoyed her, she's a very lively and fun entertainer.

I like the Elton John, Circle of Life song you posted, such a lovely song, and lyrics.

Anyway, here's cheerful little song with a 'spring' feel to it, with some lovely pics.
