Thanks for the link Johanna. As they say: any publicity is good publicity. But....

I cannot imagine the newspaper journo did not in some way touch base with Dyesol for an up-to-date info pack to put together a few snippets about the company. So why, oh why, does the article refer to Corus not Tata, and why does it not point out that Tata have decided to head towards industrial production by 2013?

I can only assume the journo only had access to an out-of-date info pack. No idea whether he got it straight from the Dyesol website or from a search through google or through some proprietary system. But surely this is yet another massive fail by Dyesol's promotional team.

Same goes for a piece on the PM program on ABC radio last night. Now I know that most ABC journos are like bowerbirds in that they are only attracted to the shiney, showy, clever people and stories rather than smart but solid things but how many times has Aunty done a new clean technology piece where they've spoken to some whitecoat working on a novel early stage largely unproven solar idea whilst totally ignoring Dyesol which has been working on dsc for 17 years and are on the cusp of commercial production?

"ABC bowerbird: Dr Gregory Wilson, the research team leader in CSIRO's photovoltaic developments is explaining why he's working on solar cells that use dyes instead of silicone.

GREGORY WILSON: The advantage of using a dye is that it's actually just cheaper manufacturing. This device here, it's a tile module, which you'll see they're semitransparent, you can see through them, so it's something like a stained glass window. And this can actually generate a voltage itself.

ABC bowerbird: So the whole building can generate electricity essentially?

GREGRORY WILSON: Look I think that's one option."

It is not a some clever after-the-dinner-party-with-a-desert-wine pie-in-the-sky option you moron, it is exactly what Dyesol and Tata will be doing in less than 2 years.

I cannot believe how hard it seems to be for Dyesol to get accurate up-to-date stories into the local media.

(I need to go away and have some grumpy pills I think).
