Well done on your profit that's what it's all about however with trends we should try and be more specific with what time frame we are referring to. If we are day trading and the price closes higher than the open then that's an uptrend. If we choose to trade weekly and the close is lower than the open for the week we have a downtrend and so on.
Investors look for the long term trend to be up and traders look to see what the long term trend is doing and if it's up buy the dips.
This may be obvious to you but just to say that something is in a downtrend may be like a red rag to a bull to others.
