The topic of interest to me that I was alluding to in a post last night.
Interest in both banks (ie: CBA and Citi) are also precisely the same business model - ie: $1K limit, 4 instalments, cardholder needs to have balance in the bank to show they can pay total amount or demonstrate regular income.
Given the business models are the same, and both run on Mastercard rails, I am wondering if the software that supports this transaction is a Mastercard product / API. There seems to be a view that 'banks are going it alone'. I don't agree. Banks rely on the payment processing rails that (in this case) Mastercard provides for the transaction....hence it's accessible by a customer "anywhere Mastercard is accepted".....not 'anywhere the bank is accepted'.
So, we know that SPT has been working with Mastercard on an API that sits on their rails to support BNPL processing at PoS.
So, are these banks using the SPT API that we already know works on both debit and credit cards....?
