Having sold Tyro against Square before for an integrated payments solution for POS Systems to Hospo and Retail. The way I see it, Square works well for small to micro merchants with volumes under <30-50k a month. Where as Tyro works well for your SME - Enterprise customers. Generally speaking people only like Square because of the Aesthetics, the rates do not make sense if you are doing large volumes.
Square will need to take a hit on their margins on the Square terminal on their percentage rates to even get close to Tyro + Big4 rates.
