In the FY18 presentation, ILU mention a scooping study to examine restarting the synthetic rutile kiln SR1 to produce 120kt a year. I see an SR1 restart mentioned regularly over the years.

SR1 built 1989, has been idle since 2009. With both Cataby and Jacinth-Ambrosia operating, ILU will be producing 120kt more ilmenite than SR2's capacity of 200kt - which neatly matches up. Synthetic rutile is considerably more valuable than ilmenite so is worth processing.

Anyone know how difficult or expensive a restart would be?

    Thanks in advance.
