Several environment project agreements signed

The Sri Lankan Government and the Czech Republic signed several key mutual agreements related to environment projects at the Environment Ministry premises last Monday. These agreements were reached as a result of a series of discussions between the Environment Ministries of both countries.
The agreements were signed to strengthen the co-operation between the two countries on environment related issues. These include air resource management, air quality measuring, solid waste management in urban cities, air pollutants management, clinical waste management and industrial affluents management.
The agreements will also facilitate the promotion of geological resources related investigation, gem exportation and the promotion of business activities related to gems. These agreements were signed between Environment Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Czech Environment Deputy Minister Ian Halvick.
Czech Republic Ambassador for Sri Lanka Miloslav Stasek, Environment Ministry Secretary R H S Samaratunga, Central Environment Authority Chairman Charitha Herath and many other senior officials participated in this event.
