You know , the more I think about marriage , the more I think it is an ancient tradition that is losing it's relevance in today's society .
It certainly had it's practical aspects in the past . A good way of assisting record keeping in that it would prevent things like interbreeding and also provided evidence for estate decisions .
But , what other purpose does it serve ? Everyone would agree that the respect for the sanctity of marriage has largely gone . Defacto relationships , multiple marriage and divorces , stupid tv shows etc has seen to that .
What purpose does marriage serve in 2017 as compared to marriage in 1817 ? The two are quite different these days .
So what if you want to marry your car ? It's not going to change your relationship with your car is it ? You already have a relationship .
Same as gay marriage . Nothings going to change except a handful of people might be a bit happier .
