Indeed, while building costs have gone up and people build bigger houses it the land that has gone up. My area is mostly 70's homes, 3 x 1 on 720sqm blocks and many don't have garage or carport under the main roof. Would cost around $35k when new, same houses sell for over $500k, they are worth more if you demolish the house and clear the block
