Because the baker has a moral objection to being involved in a what they consider to be an immoral activity, what's so hard to understand? Now you might disagree with them and that's fine but that is some people's position and they should be allowed to hold that position WITHOUT STATE PERSECUTION especially as the 'happy couple' can just go to the baker next door and buy their cake there. The fact that many people choose to sue and harass is just further PROOF that legal gay marriage is not enough to satisfy them and is not what most of them really want.
