Tesla will be indeed be manufacturing batteries very soon at their new facility at Kato Road, Fremont, California.
It is well documented.
This production facility will be revealed on battery day on 22nd September. I think to begin with it will be making high spec batteries for the new Model S/X Plaid cars which will have ridiculous performance.
