The thing is, Bellamy's is nowhere near as popular, even after slapping the A2 label on their product. They are just the latest in a long line to indirectly promote the A2 concept and thereby cannibalise sales of all their various A1-containing products.
It may be premium in theory but it is a bit sketchy in terms of traceability of its ingredients. Next time you see a tin, check out the wording of its country of origin labelling. I believe it says 'Made in Australia from imported ingredients from various sources' or something similar. It's not really clear. I believe that would also have been a major hurdle to them achieving SAMR registration (before they were acquired).
Being owned by China Mengniu probably doesn't help perceptions of trust/quality either.
People are willing to pay for brand, quality, and that includes traceability, which A2M has. A2M will raise prices very soon apparently, along with the new packaging. I doubt many would seriously consider switching to Bellamy's as a result.
