The stage 1 tax cuts offered a temporary offset worth up to $1080 to workers earning up to $90,000 a year, which has now ended. The stage 2 package introduced permanent gains for workers earning up to $66,000 by giving them a low-income tax offset worth as much as $700 a year.
Stage 1 was mostly temporary. Stage 2 a piddly $700 per year.
Labor will deliver another massive surplus this year, amending the stage 3 tax cuts will give more Australians a tax cut across the board, rather than just those high income earners.
