shorting has nothing to do with AVL or its SP. Currently AVL shorts are running at 0.02%, i.e. basically nothing. The problem with the SP is that holders wanting to sell outnumber buyers by 3:1. Despite all the hopes that an merged AVL/TMT was going to result in increased liquidity, it has so far not happened, because no-one is buying right now. It looks to me that there is an overhang of holders wanting to exit, most likely disgruntled ex TMT holders. LT AVL holders don't want to buy, and so there's no-one else. Who knows where the side in the SP will end up ? Today AVL hit 16c, and the momentum is downward.
