Trading in Centro stock was halted in the early afternoon Thursday after its share price jumped following a newspaper report of OFFERS FOR A STAKE in the company at prices three times Wednesday's closing level of 29.5 Australian cents (27.1 U.S. cents).

When the halt was imposed Centro's share price had risen 71.2 percent to 50.5 Australian cents, a six-week high.

Thursday's Australian Financial Review reported that a group of companies is prepared to offer a maximum of 90 Australian cents per share for a STAKE in the company.

If offers around 90cents a share are being offered for just a stake in the company does this mean that the share price should be well in excess of this ???. Normally in such a transaction the "white knight" gets the stock at a discount to its true market value or am i missing something here???

Could it be addition share issue at 90c which will dilute exisiting shares and maybe thats the reason the shares arent trading at levels around 90c.

Can someone please explain which scenario is more likely.
