"THE ACT government has unveiled a major tax reform package which will phase out stamp duty over the next 20 years, abolish taxes on insurance and reduce payroll tax."
Stamp duty is the main contributor to causing a lack of liquidity in the housing market. If other Australian states follow suit it will be good very good for the residential property market in the longer term as it would make it more attractive to institutional investors to get involved.
