Firstly Scott - Thank you. I appreciate those comments because they come from someone who displays much more sincerity and intellectual honesty than can usually be found on these threads. It doesn't even matter that we may sometimes have polar opposite views politically.

I missed the Coronation completely (was doing renovations on my business). I'm agnostic when it comes to the Royals - I think I understand where both sides are coming from, but I have no idea how I'll vote if the question of the Republic came up again!

What I don't like is somebody raining on someone else's parade - especially when the protest comes from a publicly funded organisation, such as the ABC or the Sydney City Council.

Fancy not lighting up the Opera House for the Coronation! Has the city seceded from the State of NSW, and has the State of NSW seceded from the Commonwealth?
