re: stan zemaniac's been promoted - from crikey
12. GENTEEL MELBOURNE, STAN ZEMANIAC AND GENTILES
How was this for an unfortunate literal in Friday's sealed section:
"Crikey would like to congratulate Southern Cross CEO Tony Bell for belatedly following our advice and giving the Sydney buffoon the boot from gentile, sophisticated Melbourne."
Now Zemaniac might be a solid Muslim basher, but we obviously meant to say "genteel" Melbourne. Apologies.
And speaking of Zemaniac, he'll be the highest paid 9-midnight presenter in Australia when he starts terrorising late-night listeners on 2UE.
The lad is claiming he is "very excited" and that 2UE made him "a great offer". So they should have if they wanted to save the plunging morale at 3AW.
Seven might have been a little premature in reporting Zemaniac's "sacking" on Friday and The Age's television writer Ross Warneke is yet to be confirmed as the permanent replacement on 3AW drive.
And the congratulations to Bell and Southern Cross were premature as they have indeed rehired the disgraceful Howard Sattler on 6PR's breakfast program. Didn't Paul "Mooner" Murray say he'd resign if this happened. With Zemaniac and John Laws still on the books, Southern Cross easily take the crown for having the most number of lamentable shock jocks.
Crikey's 55 Southern Cross Broadcasting shares are on the market at $9.99 at the moment. We're having trouble sleeping at night owning shares in any business that continues to tolerate these blots on the radio landscape.
