Every cobalt containing lithium battery contains more cobalt than lithium, yet for some reason analysts forecast cobalt demand at 1/3 quantity of the lithium. Can anyone explain that?
The only thing I can think of is that the cobalt used in the battery is some fraction of purity, like 20% cobalt or something. But googling has revealed that the cobalt used in cathodes is 99.99% cobalt oxide, Co3O4. I doubt the battery recyclers are wrong about their product. What am I missing here?
