I'm a bit skeptical about the $5.1 NPAT figure for FY12 in the microequities report. That implies record NPAT margins of 21%, better than ever before whilst they are still bedding down an acquisition in the first half and with considerably higher depreciation charges going forward.

I agree BGL's future looks bright but the medium term outlook for the broader market doesn't. Regardless of a resolution to the European debt crisis, the US economy is either already in recession or about to tip into recession. A messy resolution process in Europe would only exacerbate it. The big elephant in the room for me is China and their fixed asset investment bubble which could really knock the Australian economy around.
