Early this year, the NRL chose Inglis and Brett Stewart as the 'faces' of the game to feature in league marketing. Both now face serious charges involving crimes against women. Quite unbelievable really. I guess the lesson for any league player is not to accept that role.....lol.
This really is a very sad day for league. Inglis was doing some wonderful work with young aboriginal kids, and also with troubled kids in general. Let's hope that in time he can overcome this very serious and silly mistake, and become the great citizen he was hoping to become.
I was listening to the radio on the way to the pool this morning, and they were talking to Steve Renouf (ex Broncos, Australian and Qld Rep) about some other matter. When the DJ informed him about the Inglis matter, you could hear just how gutted Renouf was....he was almost speechless. Renouf is also of aboriginal
Who knows what happened but violence of this kind is simpy unjustifiable and inexcusable, so it really matters not what the circumstances were.
Perhaps he arrived home drunk and mistook his wife for Trent Barrett???.......lol.....Sorry shouldn't laugh, but couldn't resist that one...........
