Correction: Spacelink serves all of Australia, NZ etc even Antarctica
I've just checked with Netlinkz Spacelink team and stand corrected after yesterday's post.
In fact the Spacelink coverage of Australia is the whole continent as with NZ, the Pacific Islands and in fact almost everywhere, including Antarctica.
So ignore the Starlink/map graphic mentioned in the previous post with its more limited depiction of active cells.
The issue with access is only a matter of obtaining legal permissions for each country i.e. what Space X calls "landing rights." Not always easy for Space X to get.
But there is certainly an advantage in being a global distributor from an Australian base as a large number of ASX listed and private companies have active projects in multiple countries. For example, most of the 12-15 Rare Earth projects are in Australia but at least 5-6 are in Africa and 3-4 are in Canada. Perhaps more.
It is also not just a case of serving remotely communicated activities either. Increasingly IT is and AI is being used at the early stages of exploration through to sophisticated analytics of processing to fine tune recoveries. Glencore Technologies has a suite of software to improve recovery as does BASF and a dozen others. Remote control and monitoring of operations will become increasingly common. All targets for robust, high speed, secure networking!
