I like Pickering, his work is often very sharp, if sometimes raunchy.
But he has blown a lot of money, I think on the horses. To get an idea just how much read his "Dangerous Diamonds" story. Even if you don't like him, and many don't, read these two articles. You don't have to believe EVERY word but they could the guts of an adventure novel.
