I will give CMC a call tomorrow and get a bit more info. you don't get market depth on the screen - just "sentiment" which is I suppose is based on buyers and sellers - but still no info on size of market. I thought that the banks with their size would be OK - better check.
on your FTSE I checked out the UK economy on "trading economics". amazing how you can turn an economy around with a little debt, a little printing of money, and lowering the interest rates to almost zero (some of the data there was a few months old, and some more recent). so the economic backdrop for your rising FTSE seems fairly good also. same principal as in the US.
i know what you are saying about oil and gas stocks - so many variables, currency exchange rates, price of oil or gas, plus all of variable conditions beneath the surface which can thwart even the best of developers. ive been caught too.
on SDI - your right they are an illiquid stock, and holding a large amount is not without risk. while i am fairly confident of the factors which influence the price of SDI i will be gradually reducing the size of my holding when they get up to a reasonable level. the size was partly due to a typing error when stacking the buy side.- oops ! but its turning out really well now.
your boxing day sounded well spent - all you needed was for the prawns, the beer and the wine to be chilled, and some good company and it does not get much better than that.
also, my user name is in fact a reverse of my full name with abreviations - hence i sign off with my initials
