GK, re depth I agree that if you are buying $100k in a big 4 bank then the depth should not be a problem. re parcels, I think it depends a bit on your intentions. As with martin's method it is aimed at trading, for various timeframes. If you are investing for a medium/long term a few cents here and there matters little over the long run. I would still suggest a few parcels. Perhaps a parcel in each bank. (2 or 3 banks anyway)
There is a good article in the Weekend Australian paper today about the outlook for the big 4. A good read is the business section of the Weekend Aust paper. They have a top 100 picks for 2014 as well.
Yep the FTSE is having a good run, beauty! another 50 or so to the first target. 6800 ASX200 had a little breather yesterday. The hammer (inverted) shows some selling/profit taking pressure. Still trending on the run up. First target is ~5450.
The German DAX looks similar. I have not traded it but will watch it as well. It seems to move a bit more but could be harder to tame. It wips back a bit to hit your stop. good luck with it GK. mower
