Well said, Tony, it's exactly how I feel about technical analysis, especially when traders attempt to use it as a blanket technique for ALL stocks.
However, it might be a bit like astrology ... even if you don't believe in it, you need to be aware of it because there are so many people who do.
Some traders out there might be (and probably are) using it, but I agree with you as to the ultimate usefulness in regards to where COE will end up. It may assist the day traders in riding the short-term fluctuations, but when big news (or not) hits it is absolute, as you said.
