You may just be right there mr.oizo and some of those decisions may have already been made. The Vic Premier continues to mention Exergen whenever he is interviewed and is yet to even acknowledge that any other tech exists.

I've no doubt that the long term aim is to export coal from the LV as this is where the mother load is. However it makes perfect sense that the first ship load of coal to leave Vic will come from BM. The infrastructure is in place and Gov funded upgrades have begun.

The $90m grant is redirected funds. IMO it has everything to do with getting dried brown coal onto a ship and little to do with carbon dioxide emission reduction. If this was the gov's (state and fed) major concern they would direct the grant to the renewables sector. This will be massive for Exergen, who clearly have a close association with the Vic Libs and the fact that a new rail line will not be necessary for the CHTD coal to reach port is very fortunate for Exergen. But not so for others.

The fact that Coldry can only reduce emissions by 5%-10% is possibly the reason no one has shown any interest in it over 25+ years. Companies are needing to reduce their emissions by 35% to meet gov emission reduction targets so achieving such insignificant reductions, without having to spend millions on upgrades, certainly has Coldry on the back foot. The other concern is that not one pellet of Coldry product can leave the LV without the Vic gov spending billions of dollars on a new rail line to the Port of Hastings, some 250km away. Incidentally there is much news of this Port being upgraded (why would that be?), yet strangely enough no news of a new line from the LV. Why would the Vic gov waste billions on this when they can avoid it.

So this could all be hugely beneficial/profitable for Exergen but how does that help our little investment? Well DYOR.

Could it be that decisions have already been made and this application process is simply the gov being seen to be fair and equitable?
