Have always thought state governments were a waste of space, the bushfires confrimed that, COVID19 has made it all too obvious that they are not needed and indeed impeed correct action.

The basis is of course, if a state politician is "any good" they would progress into Federal Parliment, so the pollies at state level are the "B" team, so the "B" team looks after COVID19, Health, Education etc THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS !!

But of course to get rid of the state system, politicians would have to vote fellow politicians out of a job.........

And those .gov employees (1 in 5 workers in Aust !!!, 1 in 9 in other similar countries) would say "how would you change the system, cannot be done"
So if the Federal Govt gave NSW $5b for health, they say "from 1 Jan NSW gets $5b in funding less and the state health scheme is now federal". The duplication in pyrimads in each state can be sorted out after

    But common sense !!

We cannot even move the border checkpoint moved 10 klms south from Q!LD/NSW so there isnt the 10k of people crossing every day

    I shake my head
