The state should only be running enterprises that can't exist in private ownership. SOEs should not be competing with private enterprises using tax payers money. This is not only a matter of its inherent bias, its a fundamental policy issue.

The rationale for a State Owned broadcaster long ago ceased. We no longer have isolated farmers huddled over their wireless at nights for their only contact with the outside world.

The ABC should be given to its owners. All Australians should be issued 100 shares for free and it be listed on the ASX. Those who want to keep, sell or buy more shares could do so.

The ABC should be funded by advertising as are its competitors.
