Here's an interesting development hours before the hearing. The State of Arizona has asked to file a "friend of the court" brief in support of the Hualapai, because of its concerns over groundwater depletion. BLM and AZL oppose this move because it comes late in the game. And they might win that battle, but it doesn't bode well for any application to actually do some mining at Big Sandy.
