A state of emergency has been declared in Ethiopia, after that country's prime minister unexpectedly resigned yesterday. According to this BBC report these actions are caused by ongoing civil unrest caused by ethnic tensions, mainly in two provinces.
[edit: sorry the BBC link is not working properly]
Danakali's Colluli project is in Eritrea, just over the Ethiopian border, but neither of the two provinces most directly affected by the unrest share a border with Eritrea (which is to the north of Ethiopia). One of the claimed strengths of the Colluli project is the stability of government in Eritrea and unless the situation in Ethiopia deteriorates substantially I cannot see this unrest and state of emergency having any impact on Eritrea or the Colluli project.
