I reckon if there is any one thing that will pop the housing bubble it will be if there is a run on just one of banks ie NAB and ANZ
the interesting thing about it all is that you can get a run a bank by just spreading a rumour
it doesn't have to be anything real.
it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy in the end.
