The nominee holding is another example of lack of transparency. The ASX listed company can subscribe to services which reveal whom the beneficial owners are. Not foolproof but reasonably accurate in my experience.
That information, I would hazard, may then be shared with brokers, bankers, corporate advisers etc which can probably get themselves anyway. Hardly a level playing field.
Would not be hard for ASIC, ASX to require beneficial owners to be named. Hard to see what harm it would do other than to those accumulating or warehousing with a view to a takeover n
