The Fact Sheet from the American Burn Association shows these figures.

"Burn Injuries Receiving Medical Treatment: 450,000."

"Hospitalizations Related to Burn Injury: 40,000, including 30,000 at hospital burn centers."

"Fire and Burn Deaths Per Year: 3,400."

"Over 60% of the estimated U.S. acute hospitalizations related to burn injury were admitted to 127 burn centers."

As a footnote to the above and not part of the Association's fact sheet, I want to mention that another product, Grafix, produced and market by Osiris Therapeutics (on the U.S. exchange: OSIR), is, I believe, making gains by addressing the need for a burn treatment. There is still lots of room for Re-Cell, once it gains approval from the FDA. But it will need a sales force to market it to the U.S. burn centers. At this point, I believe Osiris is not marketing it outside the U.S., FWIW.
