Here are some stats to wrap your brain cells around.

Bone marrow transplants: worldwide 40,000 are performed each year, 20,000 in the USA alone. Of these, 30% of patients have a perfect match from an immediate relative. Which leaves 14,000 per year in the USA without a perfect match.

Congestive heart failure: in the USA almost 5,000,000 suffer from it, with 400,000 new cases diagnosed each year. 20% die within the first year and 50% die within 5 years.

Acute myocardial infarction (heart attack): the leading killer of men and women in the USA with 1,200,000 occuring each year.

Chronic refractory angina: 600,000 to 1,800,000 people in the USA with approx 40,000 new cases each year.
