    yeah, my first post was my initial reaction as persecution of Christians is now common place in many places as you are well aware.

    But on reflection, I didn't think secularists would write 'idol' on an idol. Secularists are idolatrous without knowing it (they instinctively don't care about idols and even embrace them) and are pretty clueless to the theological implications of icons and statues.

    Yes, I thought it might be Islamists too. But they don't usually use idolatry as a word to describe the use of idols. They would be more likely to write 'shirk'.

    An iconoclastic Protestant would write 'idol'. Therefore, I think it's a zealous Protestant. I personally agree that it is idolatry, but the act of defacing and destroying it isn't smart. Unless you're Gideon and you're prepared to take on the false prizes/idols of culture.

    I could be wrong of course and you might be right as the Left does have an irrational hate for Christianity.
