Growing up in NZ in the 60's golden syrup pudding was one of my Mum's go to pudding, at least once a week along with rice pudding. It was meat and three veg (boiled) for every meal and normally the treat of fish and chips on a Friday night. The small suburban fish and chip shop is still going in Christchurch after all these years.
